His Hare-Raising Tale (1951) Review: Bugs Spins Another Yarn!

In this episode, I review 'His Hare-Raising Tale,' a 1951 Looney Tunes short directed by Friz Freleng. Joined by my friend S.C. MacPeter, we delve into this 'cheater cartoon,' which features Bugs Bunny recounting various adventures to his skeptical nephew. The short reuses clips from earlier cartoons like 'Baseball Bugs,' 'Stage Door Cartoon,' and others to create a new story, although the execution falls short. We discuss the historical context of cheater cartoons, their budgetary constraints, and the animation style. Despite some interesting elements, the short doesn't quite work due to the disjointed narrative and the odd design of Bugs' nephew, Clyde.
